Fascinating and evocative, mystical tattoos represent deities, icons and sacred images from different cultures and places. From Rahu, the Tibetan Snake Demon, to the more classical images of Buddha, the goddess Kali, Ganesha and Vishnu, linked to the functions and forces they represent.

The sacred hand in the Indian mudras or the very famous Fatima hand, symbol of freedom, are often taken up in tattooing as single subjects to be given the utmost importance.

Often these symbols are tattooed in black lines only, at times in powerful colours following the tradition to which they belong, and rich in details. Wearing one of these symbols means devoting yourself to a sense of protection or paying homage to such an image.

The mysticism of tattoos also includes mandalas and representations of wise old men considered to be holy men in Asian tradition. The same as in the Christian tradition where we find the figure of the Madonna, taken up in both traditional and Chicano tattooing, the image of Christ with the crown of thorns, or images taken from the Bible and the gospels much used in Black and Grey.
